Birth/First Parents Line Up Behind Weprin-Montgomery Bill

March 15, 2019 By New York Adoptee Rights Coalition

We are excited to announce that we recently received bill-specific endorsement letters from prominent birth/first parent groups and individuals. The letters, which specifically endorse the Weprin/Montgomery Bill, have been added to our growing list of endorsements for the bill and have been forwarded to New York legislators. The Weprin/Montgomery bill now has more than 90 legislative sponsors and dozens of organizations behind it, as well as tens of thousands of adoptees working to have it enacted. Here are the endorsement letters we just got.

Concerned United Birth Parents, Mandy Krahenbuhl, President
Concerned United Birth Parents (CUB) provides support for all family members separated by adoption; resources to help prevent unnecessary family separations; education about the life-long impact on all who are affected by adoption; and advocates for fair and ethical adoption laws, policies, and practices. Learn more about CUB.

Saving Our Sisters, Renee Gelin, Founder/President
Saving Our Sisters (SOS) supports all members of expectant families considering adoption. It is committed to helping them make fully informed decisions based on information that so many other families have learned too late. SOS is dedicated to ensuring that they avoid applying a permanent solution to a temporary crisis based on partial or misinformation. Learn more about SOS.

Lorraine Dusky, First Mother and Author
Lorraine Dusky is a first mother and the author of Birthmark and Hole In My Heart: memoir and report from the fault lines of adoption, among other publications. She also frequently writes about first parent and adoption-related issues on [Birth Mother] First Mother Forum.
