Action Alerts. NYARC sent this out by email as an action alert early in the morning on February 26, 2018. If you are not receiving emails from NYARC, sign up here.
That workgroup meets this week.
NYARC has two representatives on the workgroup: Tim Monti-Wohlpart and Claudia Corrigan D’Arcy. But thousands of adoptees in New York and across the country remain crucial to this effort. We need an outpouring of support from you and from others. The workgroup has set up a special email address and has invited comments from you and the public about the future of adoptee rights legislation in New York (and effectively across the country).
This is where we need you now.
Please email the workgroup to tell them that your bottom line is equality for all adoptees. Tell the workgroup who you are and what you have at stake. Tell them that you support S5169A, a bill that will provide New York adoptees and their descendants equality in obtaining their own original birth certificates. A sample message is below, but feel free to add details about who you are, even if you are out of state. If you are a New York resident, copy your elected representatives to let them know your position on this issue.
The workgroup email is [email protected]. Or click on the button below to get an email formatted for you.

It is my right to be able to obtain my OBC! I am an adoptee who has found both of my birthparents and extended families. I am 70yrs old!!

I was lucky enough to have been found by mother and siblings. However that didnt happen until 2014. My efforts were futile because the state of NY until just a few short years ago had antiquated laws regarding this issue. This bill is a logical and long overdue next step for adoptees and their families.
